‘King of the Christmas Song’ Johnny Mathis Returns to Santa Rosa for One of Only Four Holiday Shows Nationwide

December 10 concert features Christmas classics and Mathis hits such as ‘Wonderful, Wonderful,’ ‘Misty’ and ‘Chances Are.’

SANTA
ROSA, Calif., Nov. 24 /PRNewswire/ — Bay Area son and known world-over
as the “King of Christmas Song,” legendary singer Johnny Mathis returns
to Santa Rosa this holiday season for one of only four Christmas shows
in three cities nationwide. Mathis, who receives hundreds of requests
every year to perform his Christmas show, will take the stage at Santa
Rosa’s Wells Fargo Center for the Arts on December 10 at 8 pm.
Accompanied by a symphony orchestra, Mathis will present an evening
full of the holiday classics that he made popular, as well as his many
hit songs.

With nine
Christmas albums, and warm and tender renditions of classics such as
“It’s the Most Wonderful Time of Year” and “Silver Bells,” it’s no
wonder Oprah Winfrey was quoted as saying ‘…there’s no Christmas
without Johnny Mathis.” Mathis first hit the top of the charts in 1956
with the hits “Wonderful, Wonderful” and “Chances Are.” Since then,
he’s sold well over 100 million records and been inducted into the
Grammy Award Hall of Fame three times.

“Once again, we count ourselves lucky to present A Johnny Mathis Christmas
in Santa Rosa,” says Rick Bartalini, who oversees entertainment
programming at Wells Fargo Center for the Arts. “Mathis, who was raised
in San Francisco, is very selective about where he performs, especially
his Christmas show. The fact that he chooses to come back here–for a
third year in a row–is a heartfelt honor, a testament to the warm
welcome he always receives in Sonoma County, and a rare treat for the
Bay Area!”
