Concert Series Created to Launch Groundbreaking The Circle of Education

Preschool Kindergarten Readiness Program

SAN DIEGO – Grammy Award-winning singer and songwriter, Patti Austin, will lend her distinctive vocals to the inaugural Circle of Education Concert, a live event featuring the Baby Genius® Characters, slated for Saturday, May 8, 2010 at the City Heights Performance Annex of the Weingart Library in San Diego. The concert begins at 12:30 p.m.

Created to bring awareness to the groundbreaking The Circle of Education preschool kindergarten readiness program developed in partnership with Baby Genius and San Diego State University, the Circle of Education Concert is a free musical event for children, parents, teachers and teachers-in-training who want to help children begin the most important journey of their lives.

Headlining the inaugural event, music legend Patti Austin will be joined by the Baby Genius Characters for new songs from The Circle of Education musical learning system. Every child who attends the free event will receive a Baby Genius gift bag filled with Baby Genius CDs, activity books, board books and more.

The Circle of Education uses catchy jingles written and developed to teach and help children when they transition from preschool to kindergarten. As they learn each song, it creates a path to guide their behavior in class and becomes a reinforcement tool for parents to be a part of the learning process of their child’s education. The system highlights basic education fundamentals, socialization skills, hygiene, exercise and motor skills.

The Circle of Education program is currently in the third semester of research at SDSU’s Children’s Center to measure the readiness of the program’s participants versus control groups. This spring 2010, the study will expand to Rosa Park School in City Heights.

At the heart of the program are songs that are part of a week-by-week preschool curriculum, all based on the power of music. The program will help children begin the most important journey of their lives – their first step toward the future – while it empowers teachers and parents alike by providing access to a new, groundbreaking system of education.
