The man behind the Buena Vista Social Club, Cuban bandleader, producer, and extraordinary impresario, Juan de Marcos, brought together the cream of Cuba’s expatriate musicians, friends, and long-time collaborators to form the Afro-Cuban All Stars.  After several years of tremendous and unexpected success following their genesis in the early 1990s – including four Grammy nominations, featuring in several documentaries and films, and receiving many other distinctions – the All Stars have certainly become one of the best-known and successful Cuban orchestras today. The V-Piano Grand World Premiere | March 23rd, 2011

ROLAND HOSTS V-PIANO GRAND WORLD PREMIERE AT

ZIPPER CONCERT HALL AT THE COLBURN SCHOOL

An Evening with David Benoit, Brian Culbertson, Yana Reznik, and Special Guests

Roland Corporation U.S., a world leader in electronic musical instruments, will join Hollywood Piano Company in hosting the V-Piano® Grand World Premiere, a gala event to be held on Wednesday, March 23rd, at Zipper Concert Hall at The Colburn School at 7:30pm.  This event will be the first time the Los Angeles arts community will be introduced to V-Piano Grand, a stunning new instrument from Roland.  All proceeds from this concert will be donated to support music education programs through both the GRAMMY Foundation® and the GRAMMY Museum® Foundation, Inc.

With the introduction of the V-Piano Grand, Roland continues to build upon its legacy of combining state-of-the art digital technology with the organic expressivity of acoustic instruments. Housed in a polished ebony cabinet, the V-Piano Grand provides the unparalleled touch and response of a grand piano, but gives the pianist complete customization of the instrument in a way never before possible.  Pianists can change the material the soundboard is made of, the length of the strings, the hardness of the hammers, or the tuning of individual strings, just to name a few.  The result is a world-class “stringless” grand piano that responds to each pianist’s individual playing style and character. You have to hear it to believe it. To continue, please click “MORE”!
