Celebrating the classic jazz combo configuration of the Hammond B3 organ, guitar and drums, as well as the Black-American experience through music, The Deep Blue Organ Trio breathes new life into the classic jazz configuration bringing a modern edge to a musical timepiece.

Bobby Broom began playing guitar and studying music at age twelve. He attended New York‘s famous High School of Music and Art, where he was approached by Sonny Rollins’ guitar player Aurell Ray. Ray invited Broom to play with Rollins and his band, and Broom went on to tour with Rollins for many years. As a young guitarist, Broom also joined Tom Browne’s band and began recording albums with Dave Grusin, Dave Valentin, and Bernard Wright. In the mid-1980s Broom toured with Kenny Burrell’s Jazz Guitar Band and recorded two albums for Blue Note. He rejoined Rollins in 2005 and has appeared on a number of albums with the acclaimed saxophonist. Broom has also toured with Tom Brown, Hugh Masekela, Charles Earland, Stanley Turrentine, Kenny Garrett, and Dr. John, and has appeared on albums by Dizzy Gillespie, Dr. John, Sadao Watanabe, Stanley Turrentine, Ronnie Cuber, David Murray, and Eric Alexander.

Chris Foreman began playing piano at age five and began his formal training at seven. As a teenager he was attracted to the organ sounds of Jack McDuff, Groove Holmes, Jimmy Smith and Jimmy McGriff. This attraction led Foreman to explore playing jazz on the organ. Through intensive study and experimentation, he has developed a signature blend of blues-gospel and jazz. His unique blend of sound is informed by his professional experience, which has included work with Hank Crawford, Albert Collins, Bernard Purdie and The Mighty Blue Kings.

Drummer Greg Rockingham first picked up the drumsticks when he was just three years old. He debuted as a professional musician at age five in his father’s jazz ensemble. Rockingham has performed and recorded with a wide range of famous names, including the orchestras of Glenn Miller and Guy Lombardo, vocalists Freddie Cole, Patty Page and Jerry Vale, and instrumentalists Nat Adderley, Kenny Burrell and Charles Earland.
