RE: Performance at Dimitriou’s Jazz Alley
The Pacific Jazz Institute at Dimitriou’s Jazz Alley welcomes jazz vocalist Carmen Lundy for two nights, touring in support of her new release Changes. Band members joining Ms. Lundy are Anthony Wonsey (piano), Darryl Hall (bass) and Jamison Ross (drums). Show times at 7:30pm each night with doors opening at 6pm Tuesday and 5:30pm Wednesday.
Carmen Lundy’s 12th CD release Changes, and one of her finest ever, features 8 new originals composed and arranged by Carmen Lundy, and one lone but standout classic, “A Nightingale Sang In Berkeley Square”. Her versatility and vocal range has led to comparisons with such diverse and brilliant singers as Aretha Franklin, Sarah Vaughan, Betty Carter, and EllaFitzgerald. Top jazz critics around the globe have lauded her work.
Carmen Lundy writes and performs songs with an emotional vulnerability and guileless authenticity rarely seen in modern jazz. Her life forays far beyond the boundaries of music – she’s an acclaimed actress, teacher and visual artist –informs Carmen’s work with a sophistication and worldliness that consistently defies the expected. For her legion of fans, the release of a new Carmen Lundy CD represents more than an opportunity to hear new music – it’s an appointment to catch up with a dear friend. Join us in celebration!
