VICKIE WINANS IS THROWING A PARTY FOR DETROIT TO CELEBRATE HER DYNAMIC NEW CD ENTITLED “HOW I GOT OVER!”

SUNDAY, AUGUST 23, 2009 @ 7:00 PM AT SELDOM BLUES
MONDAY, AUGUST 24, 2009 10 AM – 7 PM AT ACCENTS BY VICKIE WINANS

The Hardest Working Woman in Gospel, Vickie Winans, has overcome a lot since her last CD was released in 2006. Since then, Winans’ beloved mother Mattie Bowman passed away and Winans departed from Verity Records to launch her own Destiny Joy recording label. After surviving those trying times, Winans has rebounded triumphantly. “God has been good to me,” says the  seven-time Grammy nominated singer. “I give Him all the praise. He’s stayed with me and held me up when I couldn’t hold up myself. There are so many great things happening that I just have to say that it’s because of God that I made it over.”

Now that the bad times are behind her, Winans is ready to celebrate with her forthcoming CD How I Got Over that hits stores on August 25, 2009. The singer is throwing two parties to celebrate the project and each one is free of charge. On Sunday, August 23, 2009 @ 7:00 p.m., Winans will have an upscale party at Seldom Blues, 400 Renaissance Center, Detroit, MI. WCHB radio personality Mildred Gaddis will emcee the event that features a catered meal, comedy and a riveting concert performance by Winans. Admission is free but everyone must have a free ticket that can be picked up at Winans’ store – Accents By Vickie Winans that is located at 28801 Southfield Road, Lathrup Village, MI 48076.

On Monday, August 24, 2009 @ 10 AM – 7 PM, Winans will host a more casual, all-day party at Accents By Vickie Winans. This party will feature clowns, cup cakes, ice cream sundaes and other treats. For more information, call 248-253-3203. Winans’ first radio single, “How I Got Over” is Winans’ personal testimony. Taking a line from an old hymn classic favorite, Winans creates a brand new song that celebrates her victories, faith and trust in God. It opens with an upbeat, but old school church flavor.

Recently, Black Entertainment Television (BET) signed Winans to host a new comedy TV series, “A Time to Laugh” that will debut in January 2010. Winans burst on the gospel music scene in 1985 with her signature smash “We Shall Behold Him.” She’s remained one of gospel music’s Top 10 artists with appearances on NBC Today and Oprah. She has appeared on the cover of Jet magazine, served as celebrity spokesperson for Quaker Oats. Other hits include #1 songs “As Long As I Got King Jesus” and “Shake Yourself Loose.”
