Benefit concert to raise funds for

CHESAPEAKE, Va., May 7
/PRNewswire/ — Cox Charities, a
charitable giving initiative of Cox Communications,
will host its first benefit concert on Saturday,
July 17 at 7 p.m. at Chrysler
Hall. The concert features R&B artists Brian
McKnight and Robin Thicke.
Proceeds from the
concert will benefit Cox Charities. Cox Charities provides funding,
through a competitive grant process, to organizations which further the
academic achievement and development of young people in our local
communities.
“Through our 2009 Cox
Charities grant process, we were able to fund programs giving more than $85,000 in grants to nine great non-profits.
The programs provided by these organizations range from youth mentoring
services, to academic services for low-income and at-risk youth, to
early childhood education initiatives,” said Gary
McCollum, Senior Vice President and General Manager Cox
Virginia.
Mr. McCollum added,
“This benefit concert will provide support for even more educational
programs and will help other groups continue to make a significant
difference in the lives of young people.”
The 2010 Cox Charities
Benefit Concert also has sponsorship opportunities available. Sponsor
levels and associated benefits can be found at www.coxcharities.org.
Concert ticket information also can be found at this website.
Finally, on Saturday, May 8, from 10
a.m. to noon, Cox customers who show their Cox bill will get a
first opportunity to buy tickets to the show. This “pre-sale” event will
be held on the second floor of Greenbrier Mall, in Chesapeake, near the Cox Solutions Kiosk. And
while supplies last, all those who buy tickets also will receive a
commemorative McKnight and Thicke poster. (On May
14, tickets will be on sale to the general public via www.ticketmaster.com.)
