The 2010 Edinburgh Jazz & Blues Festival | July 30th – Aug. 8th

Edinburgh Jazz and Blues Festival 2010

Edinburgh Castle
dominates the city-centre skyline and from its ramparts you can look
down on medieval lanes and elegant, sweeping terraces that hold over a
thousand years of history, mystery and tradition.

Yet you will
also see a modern, dynamic capital where international festivals attract
the world’s leading performers, galleries display cutting-edge art, and
bars, restaurants and clubs create a lively, cosmopolitan atmosphere
with a distinctly Scottish twist.

Edinburgh Jazz and Blues
Festival takes place July 30th through August 8th.

Roger Spence
(Producer) enthuses about Laura Macdonald and Martina Almgren’s Oh Yeah
Orchestra, which also featues the amazing Staffan Svensson (trumpet),
Karin Burman (vocals) and Joakim Milder (saxophone)–he describes it as:
“feminine, bubbly jazz.”

Toby Shippey and Joe Malik recreate the
Lizzard Lounge the seminal club that was held in the basement of Cafe
Graffitti -why not dance the night away in the company of Fred Wesley,
Ty, The Rumba Caliente Afro Latin Soul Orchestra and with hosts Joe
Mail, Simon Hodge and Jim Bathgate.

Canned Heat play their first
Scottish date in fifteen years. They shot to fame headlining the
orginial Woodstock Festival and are best known for their two hits: “On
The Road Again” and “Going Up The Country”–check them out in the
intimate surrounds of the Queen’s Hal.

Tickets are going quicky
