The 31st Annual North Carolina Jazz Festival
One of the oldest jazz festivals in the country, the North Carolina Jazz Festival will celebrate its 31st anniversary Feb. 17 – 19, 2011. This 3 day event, held in the ballroom of the Wilmington Hilton Riverside, features internationally known jazz musicians from across the U.S., Australia, Italy, and Canada.
Fifteen jazz all-stars will play 7 sets of traditional and classic jazz each night on Friday & Saturday nights, while Thursday is a Special Event Night featuring different styles of jazz with big band singer Lynn Roberts, guitarist Bucky Pizzarelli, violin prodigy Jonathan Russell, and trombonist Wycliffe Gordon. Opening the event is a talented jazz ensemble from UNCW. Each evening concert starts at 7:30 pm; Thursday is a 3 hour concert, while Fri. & Sat. they play until midnight.
Ticket prices are Thurs. $35 gen. adm., Fri & Sat. gen adm. $50 each night, $25 military, $15 students.
Our patron tickets are $175 and include Fri. & Sat. evening concerts plus our special patron brunch at 10:30 Sat. morning, where the all-star musicians will play and socialize with our patrons, then patron/musicians will be invited to “sit in” with the all-stars during the closing “jam”. Patrons receive preferred, reserved seating plus their names in the program. The $200 patron tickets include all of the above plus tickets to Thursday evening’s Special Event.
