NFF Announces Newport Jazz Festival Schedule & New Sponsor, Alex and Ani Newport Festivals Foundation Announces 2011 Newport Jazz Festival Schedule
and Celebrates New Sponsor, Alex and Ani
NEWPORT, RI, March 22, 2011 – Newport Festivals Foundation, Inc.* today announced the support of a new sponsor, Alex and Ani, and the schedule of the 2011 Newport Jazz Festival®, which is set for August 5 – 7. Tickets for the Saturday and Sunday events go on sale worldwide Friday, March 25, at 10:00 am through TicketMaster and www.newportjazzfest.net.
Rhode Island jewelry designer and manufacturer Alex and Ani joins the ranks of dedicated corporate sponsors to help continue the legacy of the Newport Jazz Festival. Headquartered in Cranston, RI, with its flagship store at Newport’s Bowen’s Wharf, the company will sponsor the Harbor Stage at Fort Adams State Park on August 6 – 7. Alex and Ani, which also will sponsor the Harbor Stage at the Newport Folk Festival on July 30-31, will create limited edition charms that will be introduced and available exclusively at the two Festivals.
“An important part of the mission of the Newport Festivals Foundation, which produces the Newport Jazz Festival, is to recognize that jazz is an ever-evolving art form, ” said George Wein, President of the Foundation and producer of the Festival since its inception in 1954. “By presenting adventurous younger artists such as Esperanza Spalding, Ambrose Akinmusire, Rudresh Mahanthappa, Miguel Zenón, Avishai and Anat Cohen, Hiromi, Trombone Shorty and John Hollenbeck along with veterans Wynton Marsalis, Michael Feinstein, Al Di Meola, Charles Lloyd, Eddie Palmieri, Randy Weston, Michel Camilo and so many others, we are making the start to fulfilling that mission.”

Tickets for Newport Jazz Festival concerts at Fort Adams State Park go on sale Friday, March 25, at 10:00 am on-line, by phone and by mail. General admission tickets (single-day passes only) also can be purchased in person at the Newport Visitor Information Center, located at 23 America’s Cup Avenue. There will be a festival office in the Newport area where tickets can be purchased in person at a later date.
Tickets for the August 5 concert at the International Tennis Hall of Fame at the Newport Casino go on sale Tuesday, April 5, at 10:00 am on-line, by phone and by mail.
