PLAYBOY JAZZ FESTIVAL PRESENTS FREE CONCERT AT WARNER CENTER PARK,
SUNDAY, JUNE 5TH, IN WOODLAND HILLS
WHAT: Offering a diverse mix of jazz and entertainment, from R&B to calypso, “Playboy Jazz at Warner Park” will present a free concert featuring the unique and diverse talents of top local musicians including: 1+One with multi Grammy-nominated Patrice Rushen, world class drummer Ndugu Chancler and special guest, guitarist Doc Powell; hot Latin Salsa ‘party band’ Johnny Polanco Y Su Conjunto Amistad; and the irresistible sextet, the Nikhil Korula Band. The Calabasas High School Jazz Band, under the direction of Joshua Barroll, will open the show. The event also offers entertainment for the whole family, including a children’s play zone (complete with inflatable bouncers, balloon artists, clowns, and face painting), and a tasty array of food and beverages from 20 local eateries. Admission is free.

WHY: The concert is part of the Playboy Jazz Festival’s acclaimed series of free community events held in conjunction with the upcoming Playboy Jazz Festival set for Saturday, June 11th and Sunday, June 12th at the Hollywood Bowl. The free event is also part of the Valley Cultural Center’s “Concerts on the Green” series, and kicks off their summer jazz season.
TALENT: A top jazz pianist, vocalist and composer, Patrice Rushen (best known for her mega hit ‘Forget Me Nots’) will perform with world-class drummer, Ndugu Chancler. They will be joined onstage by special guest, guitarist Doc Powell. One of the hottest ‘party’ bands around, Johnny Polanco Y Su Conjunto Amistad have performed at many prestigious events, including Prince’s Golden Globes after-party, the grand opening celebration of the Staples Center among others. The Nikhil Korula Band, known for their innovative blend of calypso, rock and reggae, have performed with such top performers as John Mayer, The Roots, Dave Matthews Band, Erykah Badu, Colbie Caillat and more.
