Winner of the 2012 King County Executive Award for excellence in Hip-Hip, Choklate is recognized as an indie soul trailblazer who continues to innovate and forge her own very clear path by being one of the most distinctive voices in the Indie Soul scene. Her writing, cadence and delivery are not derivatives of current or former inspiration but rather an honest, pure and very original style.
Performing for two nights, Choklate will be sharing music from her highly anticipated 3rd album, due out this summer. Currently in the mixing process the release features Musiq Soulchild, Phonte of Little Brother and Foreign Exchange, Eric Roberson and more. In addition to her consistent work on her third release she has been invited to play the Capital Jazz Cruise 2012 after having played Tom Joyners Fantastic Voyage for the last two years.
Since her two releases, CHOKLATE has created a tremendous buzz for herself touring worldwide. In the US, she performed at the ‘I Got Soul’ Conference in Dallas, Texas; she opened for Neo-Soul genius Bilal at the Highline Ballroom in NYC and she had the pleasure of opening for R&B group Boyz to Men in Seattle. In addition CHOKLATE headlined her first ever performance at The Blue Note in NYC; she performed at the Underground Soul Sessions Concert in Houston, TX; the Soul Is…Concert Series with good friend Darrius Willrich in Cheverly, Maryland; and she had the honor of performing with jazz legend Roy Ayers at Sugarhill in Atlanta.
