Big-Name Music Acts Including Rod Piazza & The Mighty Flyers, Tierra, Lakeside & More; Plus BBQ Teams From Riverside, Corona, Fontana & High Desert Competing Against Other BBQ Teams From Throughout California For $10,000 In Cash & Prizes! 


    (Victorville, Calif.) – A spirited world-class barbeque competition and a wide-ranging musical lineup, all in a family-friendly environment, will fill the spacious confines of the High Desert Events Center (formerly Victorville Fairgrounds) at the High Desert Music Festival & BBQ Showdown, Saturday, April 20 (12 noon-9 p.m.) and Sunday, April  21 (12 noon-9 p.m.). 14800 Seventh St., Victorville. $15 general admission (children 12 and under, free). ‘Duo-Pack’ (two people, Saturday or Sunday), $25. Weekend Pass (one person – two days), $25. VIP Tickets (includes preferred seating and ten taste tickets, Saturday or Sunday), $35. Tickets available online, at the Victorville Fairgrounds, and at all Julio’s Cellular locations. Festival seating on a first-come basis. Blankets and chairs allowed; coolers and outside food not permitted.
    In addition to great music and food, there’s a A Kids Zone featuring zumba dance, storytelling drum circle, and more. Also, special activities for youths with supervised and interactive music, dance, art, and healthy living activities, from organizations including Art-Sourced Pro; Arts In Action; Snow Orthodontics; Creative Expressions; and the Rhythmic Institute. Other participating groups include Delta Sigma Theta High Desert Alumni Chapter.
  Cooking tips and food demonstrations will be presented throughout both days by Barbeques Galore and Two Guys Grilling, with a chance for festival-goers to win a $2,500 barbeque grill courtesy of Barbeques Galore.

                         About The BBQ Showdown…

     *BBQ Teams from Riverside, Corona, Fontana, and the High Desert compete against championship-caliber BBQ teams from throughout California for $10,000 in cash and prizes. The event is sanctioned by the Kansas City Barbeque Society (KCBS), the world’s largest organization of barbeque and grilling enthusiasts with over 18,000 members worldwide.
   *Contestants also accumulate points towards the California Barbeque Association Team of the Year (ToY) Awards.
    *Winner of the High Desert BBQ Showdown is invited to the prestigious American Royal and Jack Daniels Invitational.
  *Competing BBQ teams include nationally-recognized Big Poppa’s Smokers; Woodhouse BBQ; All Sauced Up; and Simply Marvelous Barbeque.
    *Angelena Washington of Victorville is the only woman competing at this year’s BBQ Showdown.
                                                         

                        About The Live Music Lineup…

    *This year’s High Desert Music Festival features a star-studded array of talent in the Blues, Rhythm & Blues, Funk, Latin, Espanol, Bluegrass, Country, Gospel, and Oldies genres, presented both days on two large stages. 

    *An R&B/Blues Tribute features hit-makers Lakeside (“Fantastic Voyage”); old school greats Tierra (“Together”); renowned longtime SoCal blues group, Rod Piazza & The Mighty Flyers; and 5 Tempting Men, who perform a tribute to Motown and The Temptations. 

   *The Main Stage features Texas blues guitarist, Ray Brooks (who earned a Grammy nomination for his hit, “Walk Out Like A Lady”); Oakland’s powerhouse blues revue, Caravan Of All-Stars; and High Desert blues mainstays, The Blue Henrys. Also set to appear are popular SoCal blues acts Wumbloozo; Big Papa & The TCB; teen blues  bands Detour 91 and the Chase Walker Band; and the Rock n Espanol of Manantial de Fuego (MDF).

    *The International Showcase Stage offers Country, Blues, Gospel, R&B, Bluesgrass, and Rock. Saturday it’s the gospel stylings of Michael Hart and the Spirit Filled Family; country music courtesy of Tessie and the Calico Cats; blues via The Muddy Hooker Kings and the 60 Grit Blues Band; alternative soul-rockers The 8th Street Power Band Movement; and indie rockers, Franc.            

     *A Gospel Tribute Showcase takes place on Sunday with performances by Raymond Love; Kevin Deas; Shonna Pope; and Rochelle Ellison. Rock-blues act The ‘B’ Band; bluesgrass troupe the Highland Pickers; and inspirational-gospel ensemble The Real Truth round out Sunday’s something-for-everyone, dynamic entertainment lineup.
