Three-time Grammy Award-winning jazz legend to headline free concert on August 8th
LOS ANGELES, Aug. 6, 2013 /PRNewswire/ — Baldwin Hills Crenshaw will be treated to the smooth sounds of contemporary jazz as Ramsey Lewis and His Electric Band take the stage on the mall’s outdoor promenade this Thursday, August 8. The audience will witness an unforgettable performance by one of the pioneers of modern jazz at this free concert, the next in the BHCP Live! Summer Concert Series.
Referred to as “THE great performer,” Ramsey Lewis’ style is influenced by his early formation in gospel and classical music, blending in the groove of electric piano and a smooth R&B beat. In 2011, he released his 80th collection of songs, entitled Ramsey, Taking Another Look–a ten-song record reprising some of his classics, along with new tracks. An iconic leader in the contemporary jazz movement for over 50 years, Ramsey Lewis has received three Grammy Awards and has collaborated with the likes of Earth, Wind & Fire, Nancy Wilson, the Philharmonia Orchestra of London and some of the top names in jazz.
Food will be available for purchase at the performance, with offerings by local restaurants including Buffalo Wild Wings, Southern Girl Desserts, Fleur de Yucatan and Fatburger.
Outdoor seating is on a first come first serve basis. Free parking is available in the structure across from Rave Cinemas and throughout the mall property.
