With a trailblazing career spanning over six decades, Caesar has released more than 40 albums, earning 11 Grammy Awards, 14 Stellar Awards, and the hearts of millions around the world.

“To return to Galveston — where freedom was finally proclaimed — and to lift up the name of the Lord through gospel music on such a momentous occasion is truly an honor,” said Pastor Shirley Caesar. “Juneteenth reminds us how far we’ve come, and gospel music reminds us who brought us through.”

Joining Pastor Caesar on stage is The Walls Group, the dynamic Grammy-nominated family ensemble known for their electrifying performances and contemporary gospel sound that continues to inspire a new generation of worshippers.

The evening will open with a powerful performance by the celebrated Houston Mass Choir, whose soul-stirring harmonies have graced national conventions and community events across the country.

In addition to the musical tributes, the NIA Cultural Center will honor outstanding community figures with the prestigious Champions of Freedom Award, recognizing their unwavering dedication to justice, cultural preservation, and community empowerment.

The awards will be presented by Sue Johnson, Executive Director of the NIA Cultural Center.

“This is more than a concert — it’s a spiritual, cultural, and historical experience,” said Alex Thomas, spokesperson for the NIA Cultural Center. “Juneteenth is about honoring freedom and resilience, and gospel music plays such an integral part in telling that story. We are deeply honored to host Pastor Shirley Caesar, The Walls Group, and the Houston Mass Choir as we celebrate and reflect on this important milestone.”
