Andra Day, Erica Campbell, and Wendy Raquel Robinson Set to Shine at L.A. Focus’ 27th Annual First Ladies High Tea
Star-studded celebration takes place Saturday, June 21 at the Fairmont Century Plaza Hotel
L.A. Focus Newspaper proudly announces the 27th Annual First Ladies High Tea, set to take place on Saturday, June 21, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at the Fairmont Century Plaza Hotel. The highly anticipated event will honor a powerhouse lineup of women making a difference in their communities and beyond.
Among the distinguished honorees are Oscar-nominated actress Andra Day, who will receive the Spirit Award; Michelle Gaskill-Hames, Kaiser Permanente’s Regional President for Southern California and Hawaii, who will receive the Focus Award; and L.A. City Councilmember Heather Hutt, who is being recognized with the Gamechanger Award.
“This event has always been a beautiful celebration of faith, leadership, and sisterhood,” said Councilmember Heather Hutt. “To be recognized among so many inspiring women is truly an honor.”

Returning as host is actress Wendy Raquel Robinson (The Game, Insecure), alongside multi-Grammy Award-winning artist and first lady Erica Campbell, who is also co-hosting, while her daughter and rising gospel artist Krista, will perform.
“I’m always excited to be a part of the First Ladies High Tea”, said Campbell, who is herself a first lady serving alongside her husband at the California Worship Center. “It is wonderful to be in a room with such amazing women doing great work. I’m honored to be the cohost this year and to appear with my daughter who is performing.”
Also honored this year are four exceptional First Ladies for their faith and community service:

· Dr. Micheline McFarland, Lift International Church
· Andrea Robinson, Resurrection Church L.A.
· Bukeka Williams, 88th Street Temple COGIC
The afternoon will feature performances by the Inner City Youth Orchestra of Los Angeles and a spotlight on the winners of the annual First Ladies High Tea Essay Contest, with two $5,000 scholarships awarded in honor of Dr. Betty Price and Jheryl Busby.
Founded in 1998, the First Ladies High Tea has become a red-carpet tradition in the Black faith community, drawing a “Who’s Who” of clergy, civic leaders, and celebrities in celebration of service, faith, and purpose. Past honorees include Vice President Kamala Harris, Debbie Allen, CeCe Winans, Pat Harvey, Yolanda Adams, and the late Cicely Tyson.
