PLAYBOY JAZZ FESTIVAL SPECIAL TO AIR ON SIRIUS XM’S EXCLUSIVE PLAYBOY
RADIO CHANNEL JUNE 10TH, 11TH, & 12TH SHOWCASING TOP ARTIST

      In
anticipation of the 2009 Playboy Jazz Festival at the Hollywood Bowl,
June 13 and 14, three hour-long Playboy Jazz Festival radio specials
will air nationwide on Playboy Radio — SIRIUS channel 99 and XM channel 99 as part of “The Best of SIRIUS” package it was announced today by Richard S. Rosenzweig, President, Playboy Jazz Festivals.
      Rosenzweig said, “As the excitement builds toward the 31st
annual Festival, these radio programs will give jazz fans
coast-to-coast an opportunity  not only to hear from some of the great
artists who will be performing but also to interact with them by
calling in their questions on-air.  Even jazz buffs who cannot be
physically at the Bowl for the Festival will appreciate this unique
chance to hear from and speak to their favorite musicians.”
=The three Playboy Jazz Festival specials will air from 10:00 a.m.- 11:00 a.m. PT exclusively on Playboy Radio, SIRIUS channel 99 and XM channel 99 as part of “The Best of SIRIUS” package,
and will be hosted by noted jazz radio personality Tim Flores. There will be two guests
per hour, with each artist showcased for a full thirty minutes.

      The schedule of artists’ appearances, (subject to change), follows:
      Wednesday, June 10: Trumpet virtuoso Jack Sheldon,
one of the ‘Original Lions’ of the famous 1950s West Coast Sound whose
technique, dexterity, and overall power played a key role in developing
that era’s be-bop inspired sound.; TBA
      Thursday, June 11: Grammy-winning artist and one of the best-selling instrumentalists in the world, Kenny G,
who will be making his third return visit to the Festival since his
1986 debut at the Festival that kicked off his stellar career; Pete Escovedo,
a major force in Latin music since the 1960s whose unique style blends
smooth jazz, salsa, Latin jazz, rock and contemporary pop.
      Friday, June 12: One of the pillars of contemporary Latin jazz and salsa, pianist, producer, and arranger Oscar Hernandez, who is regarded as one of the most gifted, prominent musicians on the Latin music scene; Aaron Neville,
representing the Neville Brothers,  who will bring their New Orleans
R&B legacy to the 2009 Festival to shake things up with their
blues-soaked, funkified bayou grooves.
     
The two day Playboy Jazz Festival, which annually attracts over 35,000
fans, celebrates the entire spectrum of jazz. This year’s slate of
performers will feature an eclectic mix of veteran jazz icons, today’s
hottest young stars, world music performers, and Festival favorites.
