Chicago Afrobeat Project’s fiery blend of danceable funk, rock and
afrobeat has been lighting up the country for more than eight years, and
with media attention fluttering around Broadway’s debut of the new
musical FELA!, co-produced by Jay-Z and Will Smith, the spotlight on
afrobeat music has never been brighter.

Chicago Afrobeat Project’s confirmed 2010 fall tour dates are:

October 29 – Lawrence, Kas. – The Bottleneck / with Hearts of Darkness

October 30 – Denver, Col. – Quixote’s

Chicago Afrobeat Project has released three studio albums to date and
is currently completing its fourth, “Nyash Up,” for release in early
2011. As a result of its eight-year history, the group’s sound has
coalesced into a distinct interpretation of the afrobeat music pioneered
by Fela Kuti in Nigeria in the early ’70s. The influence of the genre’s
politicized and polyrhythmic roots are evident, while the group’s
urban-crafted musicianship injects an edgy, improvisational element into
the songs structure.
